A Greek-inspired restaurant on Shrewsbury Street in Worcester said on Thursday it will close for at least two months amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Meze Estiatorio announced on Facebook that due to COVID-19 guidelines for restaurants that restrict capacity to no more than 25% that it would be closed until at least March.
The restaurant didn’t provide a specific date t reopen.
At the end of December, Gov. Charlie Baker implemented guidelines that tighten restrictions for most businesses. Beginning on Dec. 26, the state reduced capacity limits to 25% for “most industries.”
Meze Estiatorio, formerly Meze Greek Tapas, expanded to a larger space on Shrewsbury Street in 2019. With more room, the 80-seat dining room also provided space for live music, which also carries strict restrictions under state guidelines.
